Well-positioned on a street corner with a long and attractive frontage, this is pitched as a genteel eating pub. Enter to the main bar which is fairly straightforward and retains a traditional air. Ales are off to the side, where further dining can be found further on. Three pumps with two ales and a cider available and some unusual choices in Bettridges HBA (the brewery is a couple of minutes away) and Red Rock Devon Coast alongside Bee Sting cider. I tried the two ales, which were in fair shape. It’s worth being adventurous and wandering out the back, as there’s a rear patio garden with a lovely secluded area through a brick archway. Worth popping in. 6.5 (visited June)
