A very friendly town pub in a residential area away from the town centre. It's a 20th Century building in its own corner plot, a small terrace with seating outside but no room for parking, but there is a small smoking shelter at the side. There are three bars which have been opened out to make it light and airy. The front bar is still a public bar with a hard floor, Sky Sports and dart board. The two rear rooms are a basic saloon area, recently decorated and quite pleasant and homely, though the presence of a stack of plastic high chairs rang alarm bells. Staff were very helpful and the locals were friendly. Three ales on, Doombar, Pride and back of the Net. The beer was well kept and in good condition. Sadly food wasn't on when we visited but it seemed reasonably priced. I'd be happy to come back.
