A malodorous fleapit in the old town centre, a Victorian building with some architectural merit but little else to recommend it. The single large U-shaped bar has an easy-wipe laminate floor to make it easier to clear up after the customers. There are a pool table and gaming machines to occupy the punters, while the jukebox makes some truly awful noises. The furniture and décor are battered and unappealing, while the majority of the clientele are loud, belligerent and unwelcoming. No real ale, no desire to return.

Large Victorian corner pub, large open room with a central bar, nothing of note within the interior just a few tables and chairs around the periphery. There were a couple of TV screens, one with sports on the others a music channel. The lack of interest continues on the bar with no real ale just run of the mill keg stuff,my extra cold Guinness was cold. Wont be back.

visited the alex about 2 months ago and have been going since on a regular basis. Have met Richard and Gill, landlord and landlady, who have a good repore with all their customers. Really enjoy Sunday evenings and the kareoke where everybody relaxed and friendly and having a good time in a great atmosphere.
