This pub has been well described by Graham below, with little apparently changed in the years since his visit. This is very pleasant in parts, but the parts don't really add up to a coherent whole. There are just two cask beers on, Abbot and GK IPA, the latter being in reasonable condition and the equivalent of £4.60/pint. There's some subdued lounge music and the gentle sound of old age pensioners interweaving conversation with lunchtime meals. I had no preconceptions about this pub, so rather than "better than expected", how about "could easily have been less good"?

A large roadside pub, fronted by an ancient half-timbered building but with a large extension and various outbuildings behind. The large car parks reveal it to be a popular location for weddings and other functions. The original front area has old beamed ceilings and flagstoned floors, while the areas behind are decorated similarly but in a more modern style, leading through to the restaurant at the back. The whole place has more of a lounge than a pub feel but it is pleasant enough. Beers restricted to GK IPA, Abbot and Old Speckled Hen but at least in fair condition.

More of a restaurant than a traditional pub. Food is very good and regulars get a discount card. Beer is ok. Wide selection of wines.
Large Beer Garden with heaters.
Has a separate annexe for events and there is often live music - but this is in a separate building to the pub and restaurant.
Has historic links - situated on the site of the Battle of Tewkesbury (1471) - the penultimate battle of the War of the Roses.
