Nothing much has changed from the description below, but there has been a recent refurbishment and there are no longer any handpumps on the bar. The food offering now follows an Indian theme.

Will Larter left this review about Red Lion Hotel
A large pub and hotel at the end of the main street with multiple bars on various levels but the various different rooms lacked any distinguishing features when I popped in to look around. There are mostly wooden floors, high tables and chairs, with lower tables near to the front windows.
Various hand pumps dotted around had Landlord, Bombardier, Hobgoblin and Doombar, and there's a special offer of £1.95 a pint on Mondays, plus a "buy 6 get the 7th free" saver card. (I didn't have a drink on this occasion, so I haven't given a rating.)
The above was on 17th January 2012 - a more recent visit found nothing much changed, though the seven for six promotion is in the past. Two sets of three hand pumps had a couple of ciders, Sharps Doom Bar, Fullers London Pride and Oakham Inferno "coming soon". On a midweek early evening it was quite busy with diners and family groups. My half of Doom Bar initially seemed to be in good condition, but had a residual taste of bananas, which I don't think is what the brewer intended.
