I was last in here a few years ago, when it was an OK pub with two or three real ales on and a pleasant atmosphere. Going through the door now, it was like entering a completely different place. First impression was brightness - lots of white paint and bright lights. Once my pupils had adjusted to the glare, I noticed a lot of red paint, too. The penny finally dropped when I saw a metal plate on the wall above the door with the words "Arsenal FC". It's an Arsenal pub - in Luton!
Perhaps more to the point, it's also a Greene King pub, and the only real ale on offer (occupying two of the six hand pumps) was their ubiquitous IPA. This was not in the best of condition, having a slightly strange aftertaste - not so bad that you take it back, just not quite right.
There were a few locals drinking lager, and some dreadful middle-of-the-road pop on the sound system, while Sky Sports was displaying mutely on the TV above the rather nice tiled fireplace. There's a pool table in the smaller room behind the fire, where the window has red blinds.
I'd hesitate to recommend this pub even to Arsenal fans.
