This is a lovely pub inside and out. However, when we visited it, we were not able to see what beers were available as the only other customers were locals blocking the bar. I understand this is one of the outlets for the Wibblers Brewery in Mayling. We were served by a lad who was old enough to shave, but had not bothered, and seemed unable to speak. My wife bought the drinks and when he gave her the change she asked him how much they were. He looked at her with a blank expression. I do not think we will be visiting again.

13th Century local in a lovely village setting, with a front bar and a rear restaurant dining area. it also has a coffee shop which opens at 08.30am. there are 3 menus ( breakfast, restaurant and bar) and all are reasonably priced and varied including vegetarian dishes with winter/summer menus.
Adnams and guest ales from local breweries Mighty Oak and Farmers Ales (Blue Boar brewpub maldon) on tap on our visit 16/03/07. the staff and Guv'nor were very friendly. Well worth a visit. we will definitely return to this delightful pub
