The Bull Inn is a Greene King pub and hotel located just to the west of the River Colne on Bridge Street which is Halstead’s main thoroughfare. This is a food led pub with the reasonably priced GK menu in operation. Dining seating is found to the left of the entrance and in the rear where there is an open plan area to the right and a snug to the left. The U-shaped bar counter is found to the right of the entrance where it is flanked by seating whilst also facing an inglenook that separates the bar area from the rear dining. Premium keg was available and two of the three hand pumps were in operation drawing GK’s own IPA and Abbot Ale.
During a recent weekday lunchtime visit there was some low background music playing and the bar’s television was off with no sign of any sport being advertised, which wasn’t a surprise. The service was polite, but I think I’ll look for somewhere a little more interesting if I find myself in Halstead again.
