Being the solitary Great Dunmow entry into the Good Beer Guide, I had high hopes for this local boozer on the High Street. However, it's inclusion is somewhat of a surprise to me.
This was the quietest of the 4 pubs I tried in this small town. It does possess character with beams and low ceilings. There is a fairly open space at the front, with a smaller section at the rear. TVs at the front and rear were showing the England football game. I was surprised it wasn't much busier, as it was actually the quietest pub I visited in the town.
The real ale selection is also fairly poor for a Good Beer Guide pub. There are 2 handpulls dispensing Adnams Bitter & Fuller's London Pride. I can only assume that the beer quality is superb to warrant its entry.
No food is served here. But I noticed that one young customer had brought in a takeaway, which is obviously allowed.
