Blue Scrumpy left this review about The Golden Bell
Situated just off the High Street near the parish church, this is a comfortable locals' pub with a large, single room. The room is mainly bare boards with a carpeted section where I sat at the far left with some pictures of monkeys on the walls. The right-hand end has some exposed brickwork and a dartboard. Board games were available to the side of the bar and there was a games machine near to the front door. Various events were being advertised, such as live music and vinyl nights.
The pub was last in the Good Beer Guide in 2016. Cask ale no longer seems to be a focus here. Just Landlord was on and there was some comment made by one of the numerous local characters when I ordered it. Neck Oil was the pick of the keg options. The cider was Inch's. Wine and cocktail lists were on each table.
I failed to warm to this pub. Construction work ongoing in the bar was also providing a bit of an inconvenience when trying to access the toilets.

The Golden Bell is a very attractive town pub in the pleasant town of Leighton Buzzard and looks very well cared for with hanging baskets and flower boxes outside. Inside it's a different story with plenty of screens showing news and sport, lots of bunting, promotions for drinks, food and upcoming sport as well as one or two prominent machines. It's clean and tidy and very friendly but contrasts with the exterior.
Three handpumps had St Peters Ruby Red , which went down pretty well, Batemans England Expects and Adnams Broadside on all served by a chatty, attractive and informative barmaid.
Just about deserves its 2012 GBG entry and is probably the best place for a decent pint in Leighton Buzzard town centre.

Situated in an attractive corner of the town ,close to the floodlit church and opposite an impressive Georgian building, this pub has found its way into the 2012 GBG with 3 real ales and a rear cider on offer. There was a very warm welcome from the attractive barmaid who also explained that the pub opens early (10am) and serves food (standard pub grub) right through to closing time, with a special roast on market days and Sundays.
This is a single bar town pub with probably too many screens (4 in total)and quite punchy musak, and a slightly laddish atmosphere. There is a quieter corner to one side, but the fitted wall seating was a lot lower than I expected which almost produced a disaster with my full pint of St Peter's Ruby Red.It slipped down once I had recovered my poise. On the walls are some interesting photos of LB many moons ago.
A clean tidy interior but the sports bar theme is a little overdone, however I would have no trouble popping in for another beer and there is a very good curry house nearby.
