A roadside pub in a drive-through village, this looks to have had extensions at either end over the years, with the areas all interlinked internally. Entering from the front, you come into a small, rectangular room with bar counter facing and offering just Fosters and Guinness. A tables of diners were tucking in, so I made my way through a door opening to the right which brought me into a main, carpeted bar area with the actual bar on the left, standard tables and chairs, a sub-dividing wall with a small, open fireplace, pile of logs and well-stocked trophy cabinet, with a further anteroom behind this wall housing a pool table, quizzer and fruit machine. A four-ale line-up won't win any awards if it offers Sharp's Doom Bar, GK Abbot Ale, Fuller's London Pride and Timothy Taylor Landlord, but the latter was in fantastic shape albeit for a steepish £3.90 for a pint. Food is of the pub grub variety and looked and smelled good, and along with a warm welcome on entering the bar area, there was a nice ambience to the place and a mix of locals young and old in situ is always a good sign.
