Having visited the Robin Hood at Clacton, we thought we would give this one a try as it is part of the same chain, and not too far away. Inside it is up to the same high standard, with the same well thought through menu, as the Robin Hood, and feels like a quality traditional pub. There are three real ale pumps serving London Pride and Adnams Broadside at £3.00, and a guest beer. The Broadside and the guest beer were off, but it was Tiger. As this is a pub that you have to drive to, it seems odd that only premium ales are available, and not a session bitter. The barmaid greeted me with the stupid phrase 'you all right there' which I still do not understand, and 'thereyago' as she delivered the drinks. This is annoying in any pub, and more so in one that is aiming upmarket. The part that does spoil it is the toilets are at the top of a flight of winding stairs. Considering the size of the place, (the photos only show part of it,) this really is not acceptable. A shame, as it is a nice place to be in.
