In a building that is purported to date back to the 1600s, the Peacock is set back from the passing road by a row of parking spaces and a grass covered slope that leads up to some seating on a front patio. The dimly lit interior has parquet flooring and low thick wooden roof beams throughout and is split in two by an exposed brick inglenook with a hooded log burner that is found at the end of the serving counter that runs across the rear wall to the right of the entrance. Amstel, Birra Moretti, Guinness and Appleshed Cider were the keg options and Longman Brewery’s Best, Harvey’s Best and also their Old Ale were the cask options available on the three hand pumps. Some standard tables and chairs are found in the bar area and in the left-hand side dining room. I didn’t venture out the back, but on the wall a framed overhead photo of the pub shows a large rear beer garden that I imagine is a real draw in the summer months. There was some background music playing, but I thought this place was a bit too sedate and food led so I was glad to leave after my pint of cider.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Peacock Inn

Attractive country pub, set back from the road by a parking and then a sloping front beer garden. Retains two main rooms, the bar on the right-hand side and the dining room off to the left, separated by an enormous old fireplace. Both parts have been modernised, but thankfully it still feels relatively traditional. Three cask ales on handpump: Sussex and Old (£5.20) from Harvey's plus the equally local Long Man Best Bitter.
