The Duke is a back street local’s boozer that is split into front and rear bar areas. The front bar houses a large plasma screen that was off during my recent Saturday evening visit, but there was some music playing via the jukebox. There is a dart case on the wall, but there were tables and chairs in front of it and I couldn’t see an oche so I’m not sure if there is actually a board in it. The back bar is quieter than the front and is a reasonably comfortable seating area. There is another plasma screen here, which again was off, a dartboard and the walls are adorned with pictures of a boxer named Ian Gray who I’d imagine either has something to do with the pub management or lives locally. The bar is stocked with standard draught products and one of the three hand pumps was unused leaving London Glory and Sundance as the ale options. I plumped for the London Glory which was below par. At the rear of the pub there is a paved and lawn beer garden that houses a few picnic tables.
I’d use this pub if I lived locally, but I wouldn’t make a special trip to revisit.

Agree with last reviewer that it was welcoming. However, something of a "youth club". And did they need to have the telly on quite so loud?
It probably competes with the Clarence for the best pub within walking distance (unless yu are prepared for a hike), but that's not saying much...
