Corner pub on the main Western Road heading into Hove from Brighton. It has a central bar with seating all around, plus further space on the first floor, accessed by a spiral staircase. The upstairs appears to be used for events such as quiz nights and it can also be hired out.
We were the first in on a midweek lunchtime and on entering we found a couple of handpulls, one with a turned clip. On asking if they had any cask ale, the barmaid turned the clip round to reveal Gun Project Babylon. Keg options were Beavertown Neck Oil, UnBarred Joosy, Lost Pier Beach Session IPA, Abyss Super Pale, Franciscan Well Chieftain & Sharp's Atlantic. I chose the Beach Session IPA, which was fairly non-descript.
Food is Thai, with menus available on the bar.

A fashionable bar on a street corner, which has presumably been a pub for a long time but felt like a recent conversion from other uses. I immediately felt out of place, as this is a fashionable place with loud music and prices to match: my beer here, at £2.30 a half, was the most expensive I had in two days in Brighton and environs. There are four hand pumps with Old Rosie cider, Sharps Doom Bar and two local beers. I went for the Gun Strong Pale Ale, which didn't make a lasting impression on me. It was lively at the time of my mid-evening visit, but I'm not sure it would have been better in the afternoon.

The Wick Inn is a traditional feel pub with wood furnishings and an island bar. There are stairs that climb up to a lounge bar, but this area was closed during my visit at 22:00 on Tuesday evening. Standard and premium draught products are available and the bar supports four hand pumps that were drawing Ballards Golden Bine, Hepworth’s Old Ale and Hammerpot’s Shooting Star. The fourth hand pump was off, but I’m sure it wasn’t long before another locally sourced ale was hooked up. The background music was random and I didn’t spot any televisions. There is a quiz every Monday from 20:30 and the menu consists of Thai food.
This is a reasonable high street pub and I would have no problem returning.

A busy, freindly and large pub in Hove on two floor. The service is fast and the staff are great. The ale selection is brilliant, all sourced from Sussex Micro Breweries.
If you visit you must also try the food. They do amazing pizza Monday to Saturday and a roast on Sundays. The pizza is the best I've had outside of Italy and at £5.95 for a 12" margherita it is a ample meal for one or a light meal for two.
The Sunday roast is huge and well cooked, think home cooked rather than Gordon Ramsey, which is what I look for. Not fussy stuff pilled into a tower with hardly any gravy! The meat is of good quality and the veg is cooked to perfection with a real home cooked Yorkshire pudding and real gravy. My mate loves the nut roast, so the veggies are happy too!
