One of the better Spoon's I have recently visited. Good choice of beers, decent bar staff , not too full inside but as it was decent weather , the outside area was busy but pleasantly calm. My pint of Acorns Admiral IPA was in good nick so all good with me.

The best beer in Biggleswade yesterday was had here. We chose from the guests available Dorset Midnight Blinder, Conwy San Francisco and Sambrooks Wandle. This JDW only opened in 2017 and was very popular with a lovely outside seating area entered through an archway from the street and then into the bar on the left. Open plan kitchen area viewed at the rear of the pub.

This new JDW pub and hotel opened in early August 2017 and was formerly owned by Greene King. It looks like it has been much extended as the main entrance is at the right side of the original building and leads into a large open plan zig-zag area with the bar counter at the far left and as seems to be the fashion in their new outlets an open kitchen where you can annoy the kitchen staff by standing and watching.
The fixtures and fittings are slightly above average. It was busy but not rammed when I arrived late on a Thursday afternoon. The staffing levels were certainly higher than usual with no long wait to be served and tables generally clear.
Sadly there was one ignorant chavvy mother letting her brats use the space as a playground while she attended to the much more important issue of her mobile phone. After this creature and her offspring left the whole area was in disarray with menus and food scattered across the floor.
The bar has twelve hand pumps which had one unused but the clip not turned, two available soon, the JDW Trio Of Doom, Old Speckled Hen, Adnam's Broadside, Black Sheep Rye Mild, Deuchars IPA, Oakham JHB and Otter Bright. Four of the six guests were from the permanent part of the national list and none of them were from local breweries.
I went for the Rye Mild (£2.39) which was in reasonably good nick.
I didn't think this was one of their better new outlets. Some Locale beers would improve things.
