Strongers . left this review about The Seadog
This place was closed for a long time, which was a shame for Hastings because it’s the first building people see as they leave the train station. It reopened as the Seadog back in 2022 and I’ve driven past it many times since, but Friday afternoon last week was my first visit well overdue visit. The wooden floored interior has a central L-shaped serving counter that faces seating across the front windows and up the right-hand wall where a beer fridge is also found. The Christmas decorations had gone up so the ceiling was a mix of foils and hops, but the background music hadn’t yet been taken over by festive spirit. At the rear are the toilets, I thought the framed picture of the old hole in the pub’s toilet wall was very funny. There’s also a small overspill seating room at the rear. Apart from the Guinness, all the draught is local with lots of keg fonts and two hand pumps that were drawing Three Legs Brewing’s ESB and Ascension Cider, the latter being excellent and my tipple for the rest of the day when available. There’s a south Asian food menu from Orchard Road, but I didn’t see anyone eating. I found the service to be friendly and the pub comfortable enough that I would have stayed for another pint if I had time, it’s worth a look, especially as it’s literally opposite the station.

Frank's Front Room isn't like my front room. It's not much like a pub, either: inside it does feel very much like a cafe, laid out with tables and chairs. There's 3 hand pumps, though, and some taps, so it qualifies for inclusion on Pubs Galore. Two of the pumps were offering ale from Hastings Brewery - mine was a little hazy, but fine all the same; the third pump was out of use.
If you're looking for Ye Olde Englishe Pubbe, you'd probably best give this one a miss, but I'd say it's a good place to stop on the way to or from the nearby station.
