Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Clarence Hotel
Quite an attractive exterior, with the pub name boldly displayed on the corner above the main door. However, once inside, it is fairly basic in terms of furniture and decor. Some patio seating out on the pavement. Hosts regular live music. To be frank, many of clientele left something to be desired (as did the indifferent and unwelcoming bar staff). Doesn't feel like a real ale pub, but there are three handpumps - offering Bombardier, Directors and Harveys (OK at £3.20, but I wouldn't stay for a second pint).

Strongers . left this review about The Clarence Hotel
The Clarence Hotel is a U-shaped pub with three strategically placed plasma screens for showing Sky Sports, a quiz machine and a jukebox. There is a pool table to the left of the bar and sitting on the right hand side of the bar is a fridge that had some rolls available for £2. One of the hand pumps was unused during my visit last week, but Harveys Best and Directors were available from the other two. I had a Guinness that was good and the bloke behind the bar was a friendly guy. Live music is held here on Friday and Saturday nights and I would be surprised if there is not a late license. For those that way inclined karaoke is held here on Thursday and Sundays.
There were a couple of dodgy characters in when I visited last Monday evening, but I would return if passing – if only for a quick pint.
