Another one I had passed many times over the years and another one where I was the only punter in a bit before 1.30pm. It does remind me of many of the O’Neills I have visited in London over the years, but this time it was during waking hours and where it was not pitch dark in the venue with thumping music on! It is a long rectangle, plenty of dark wood with the bar down the right hand side. A stage at the far end to the door does have some interesting stained glass windows as the backdrop to it. Some leather banquettes down the opposite wall to the bar, with some small round tables in from and with little screens with stained glass to separate one off from the other etc. there are some wooden dividers with ledges down the front part of the middle line of the pub with lots of small round tables and wooden barrels at the back in front of the raised stage. Also a down stairs smaller bar not in use (no shit Sherlock) on my visit with an interesting semi-circular bar off the back wall.
No real ale obviously. Plenty of keg choices, most pretty as expected - Coors, Staropramen, Pravha, Madri, Aspall cider, Guinness, Blue Moon, Magners, Neck Oil, Rekorderlig, with less seen things on tap in pubs (or at least the ones I go to) such Cobra, Well Hazy from Franciscan Well, and Casual Pale from Unbarred, a Brighton Brewery but which was not on on my visit here. Still have the tap room of that brewery to visit in Brighton at some point.
The place felt pretty sterile on my visit and so will give it another try at some point when there is some music or live sport on. Prefer the old school O’Neills atmosphere to the somewhat no atmosphere here today.

It was quite late when we called in here and the live music was in full swing. The place was quite busy and the atmosphere was good. I had a quick Guinness and enjoyed the music. Glad to have called in.

Not a keen fan of there Irish themed type bars and Molly Malone's fits into this category quite nicely.A couple of interesting features though was the impressive large stained glass window at the rear of the pub and so to the oval shaped island bar with a once used gantry.

Decent and predictable example of a manufactured Irish bar. It has all the right things on the walls and I guess they believe this will bring in the areas drinkers. If it does they will need yo pay £3.90 for a Doom Bar and an 'ouch inducing' £4.30 for a pint of Guinness. There are not many (any) Irish in here.

Irish pub with a central island bar. 2 real ales on during my visit. Old style advertising boards and various nick-nacks and curios decorate the pub. Live music advertised.

Molly Malones, brillant Irish Bar. The staff are so so friendly, best bar staff i have seen in along time. The saturday I was there there was a guy called Mike Dobie he was so good - the bar was packed and everyone seemed to be having a great time. The bouncers were really good, when i went out to smoke we had great chat. Overall without doubt one of the best and upcoming bars in brighton. Im going to make it my knew local.

Heist is now known as Molly Malone’s which is an Irish bar that comes with all the usual trimmings of Sky Sports and live music. There was no band set up on the high stage during my visit on Tuesday night, but there was some random background music playing. The island bar is located in the centre of the pub and amongst the draught I counted four hand pumps that were drawing Molly Malone’s Famous Brighton Stout (very nice), Dark Star Pale Ale and Hammerpot’s Shooting Star and Red Hunter. Food is served and the options that I saw ranged from £4.50 for simple dishes to £7.95 for Molly’s Burger.
There is another bar downstairs, but it was shut during my visit.
I thought that the service was friendly and I do like a good Irish bar, but when I next visit Brighton I’ll probably avoid this hectic part of town.
