Strongers . left this review about The Park View
The Park View is open from noon every day and closes at 23:00 Sunday through to Thursday and midnight on Friday and Saturday. Food is served until 22:00 every day except Sundays when the kitchen closes at 21:30. Well behaved children are permitted in the main bar area until 17:00, but can linger in the basement bar (which I didn’t visit) or large tiered garden found at the front of the pub until 21:30. The main bar area is U shaped and around the exterior walls are paintings that are available for purchase at a starting price of a princely £100. There was a large student contingent during my Tuesday evening visit, but I got the feeling that this is more of a family pub during the day. I found the barmaid to be very miserable and she looked at me like I’d grown a second head when I asked where the toilets were. Thankfully the Tribute was more agreeable! Harvey’s Best and Doom Bar were also available with two hand pumps being unused. I think that I was the only person drinking ale as everyone else was tucking into the premium draught products. I didn’t spot any televisions, but there was some background music and a weekly quiz was advertised for every Wednesday from 20:00.
I’m not a big fan of these big pubs and the service wasn’t the most welcoming. Maybe I’d give it another chance if in the area as a bit of effort is certainly being made by the management.
