Moby Duck left this review about The Lewes Road Inn

There is an open main room at the front of the building with the bar along the back wall, either side are a couple of offshoot rooms, one with a pool table the just seating.in the main bar there's a couple of retro games machines, Street Fighter 2 caught my eye, music was playing on the loud side of medium and the whole place had a slight student vibe. On the bar are six handpumps with the selection being Harveys Sussex Best, Williams Brothers Good Times and Gun Project Babylon Pale, Rosies Pig Cider and on handle six Henry Westons Vintage Cider.
Not a bad pub but maybe not somewhere I'd make a beeline for.

Strongers . left this review about Franklin Tavern

It was very quiet in the Franklin Tavern Early on Tuesday evening just gone. The only people present were an old couple who were on first name terms with the barman and a small group of students who were playing darts and pool in an area to the right around the back of the bar. Around the back of the bar to the left is a seating/dining area and to the left of the entrance is a stage area that has a curtain drawn across it. There is at least one television and a plasma screen that were showing a premier league review show via Sky Sports. This was muted and some very sedate background music was piping away. The events calendar has something listed for every evening, although most of these ‘events’ involved student food discounts. However, there is a quiz every Wednesday and Thursday is open mic night.
The bar is stocked with standard draught and two of the hand pumps were unused leaving the ever-present Sussex stalwart of Harvey’s Best as the ale option.

I found it quite depressing in here and I would drink elsewhere if I lived locally.
