An old-style country pub which was previously a tea room and before that, a brothel. It stands in its own grounds and has a large car park and garden, well away from other buildings but convenient for the church and for Horton Folly tower. It's a thatched building with a mix of carpeted and flagstone floors, exposed timbers, inglenook fireplaces and loads of rural character. The cooked food is first class, but a little pricey, while simple sandwiches seem to be a bit of a challenge. Staff are very welcoming but not as efficient as they might be. Two ales and two ciders on draft - I had Flack's Double Drop, which was at the right temperature, in perfect condition and most enjoyable. Highly recommended for an evening meal or Sunday lunch.
