This modern roadside pub, one of a small chain, sits next to the main road and has a reasonable car park. There are also a tiny garden and a small terrace outside. There is a strong local cadre, and it is certainly family friendly, mainly due to the restaurant part of the business which uses locally sourced ingredients. The single large bar has a wooden floor and is loosely divided into an eating area, crammed with tables laid for diners, and a saloon area with comfy chairs, sofas and coffee tables. There are various homely lamps, mirrors and tv screens dotted around, there are areas of exposed brickwork and there is painted pine panelling to provide contrast. Food seems reasonably priced but we didn’t eat so can’t comment on quality. The staff appeared over-worked, but they were friendly enough when they did finally acknowledge our presence. There were two ales on and one cider; the latter was served at a good temperature and was quite enjoyable. There is free WiFi available. The pub lacks atmosphere and has something of a clubhouse feel to it. There were rather too many children running around on this occasion, but it’s fine as a place to stop for a quick meal or pint if you can put up with the bustle.
