Cask here were a trio of Brains staples of SA, Rev James and the newer 1882 Bitter. Keg offering of Murphy's Irish Stout, Brains IPA, Brains Barry Island pale ale, Moretti, Cruz, a trio of Brains Bayside lagers (original, grapefruit and cherry), Brains Black, Heineken, Inch's and Fosters.
Caught this brand-new Brains owned sports orientated venue on the last night of soft launch ahead of full opening tomorrow. There is some outside seating at the front. Inside the bar counter, in a bare boarded area, is along the left-hand wall. There is a video wall at the rear, partly to show stuff on big screens and partly to provide some unspecified gaming activity. There are some booth tables around the areas and some bench seating serving regular tables backing onto that and facing front. Otherwise, some barrel tables on the main floor space and maybe a stage area on the right-hand side of the ground floor. Plenty of screens were showing sports shows absent sound that provided by a decent and nicely loud pop soundtrack. A spiral staircase to upstairs, which is bare boarded, has its own bar counter with the same keg beers as on the ground floor main bar. Lots of bench and tall table with matching seating arrangements. There is a stage area with a Welsh dragon neon backdrop and some booth tables around a couple of darting lanes. Can’t say it was plush, felt a bit basic in terms of décor. Sure it will do well with a sporting crowd given where it is!
