My partner and I decided to call in at the Thirsty Pine today. To be honest, we could have chosen a better day for our visit, because it was a wet and miserable Wednesday afternoon. The former Jax nightclub, is a rather large establishment, with a cafe at the front of the premises, and a sound stage, which was being tested out by members of staff. To the back of the premises, is the actual pub, with minimalist furnishings, and a pine tree (I think it's fake!)
My partner was delighted with the beverages on offer, there is a wide variety listed in a drinks menu. Whilst my partner waxed lyrical about the Thirsty Pine, I have a rather different view of it. To be fare, it looked like the venue is still a work in progress, with the staff being occupied with various tasks. But I wasn't exactly made to feel welcome, when I wandered into the venue, looking for my partner. It these kind of details, that linger in the memory. I must almost mention the diabolical toilet facilities, plenty of them, but at the moment in a poor condition. That being said, the Thirsy Pine has the potential to be a go to destination, and I wish them well.
