I’ve seen a glimpse of the future and I don’t like it! Tap House is a two floor craft bar with industrial décor and fully self-service lager, cider and wine dispensers. The barman was sat on one of the picnic tables out front, only coming in to explain how to use the machines. I’m quite tech savvy and worked as a barman on and off for ten years, but I still got it wrong. No wonder the two old Chinese gents that walked in soon left after receiving the detailed instructions. A poster on the wall says “Pour, Drink, Rinse Repeat”, there literally is a sink for washing your glass. Pizza is available, I’m not sure if you have to cook it yourself. I hope this concept doesn’t take off because it completely flies in the face of what a bar should be. The barman was polite and I found somewhere comfortable to sit, but I can’t endorse this atrocity.
