Originally opened at the other end of the central Gloucester area down by the Quays, this has now relocated to a more prominent position and certainly makes a welcome change to the ‘Spoons just a few doors along.
Internally it’s a U-shaped pub and quite traditional in style, and is certainly a lot more appealing than the rather spartan look that you find in many micropubs. There are dark blue wooden boards on the ceiling, turquoise paint on much of the walls and rough wooden cladding on the bar counter. Numerous pewter and earthenware jugs hung from the ceiling and a number of brewery branded trays had been affixed to it. More jugs were on a shelf running around the wall, and below this were a number of brewery mirrors. A wall to the right hand been painted in a contrasting red colour and was completely covered with pump clips. A small room at the back housed a piano.
Beers on tap were Twinkle Twinkle and Pure Star from Sillhill Brwery, along with Hop Shed Hoptical Illusion. Ciders are the real star of the show here though, and besides Thatcher's Gold on tap, an extensive selection were racked up to the left of the bar. On this occasion the choice consisted of Weston’s Rhubarb, Vintage and Family Vintage, Lilley’s Select, Cherries & Berries, Dry Somerset Scrumpy, Rum Cider, Gladiator, Cheeky Pig, Bee Sting and Fire Dancer, Hot Shed No. 1 Medium, Thatcher’s Cheddar Valley and Hartland’s Farmhouse Dry. A friendly landlady rounded things off nicely. All in all, a cracking little pub.

We were made to very very welcome in here. Great choice of beers on and the barman was playing (and singing along with) some 80's classics! We felt obliged to join in and it turned into a 2 pint visit. Well worth calling in!

Small pub with a central bar. Beer mats adorn one wall with tankards hanging above the bar. 3 real ales.
