Still a GK pub. The pub has two sides, a restaurant area on the left and a L-shaped bar on the right. The bar has a couple of high tables, a few lower ones but no real standing space for drinking. The barman was highly efficient, projecting himself more like an Army senior NCO than a member of the hospitality trade, though this was not a bad thing given some of the clientele. Food was the standard GK fare, fairly priced. There was a TV screen in the bar, but this was switched off. Cask ales on were Otter Ale and GK IPA, and there was a dry pump. Keg beers and ciders were Thatcher’s Gold and Haze, Guinness, Estrella, Carling, Cruzcampo, Peroni, Hazy Daze, Levelhead and Moretti. It’s a perfectly acceptable pub which complements well the other two pubs in Beer.

Greene King pub, restaurant and hotel in a prime position overlooking Sea Hill, with a beer garden overlooking the sea on the opposite side of the road. Furniture and decoration inside the bar side dining area and rear restaurant is 'smart traditional' and thus a bit soulless. Greene King IPA, Old Speckled Hen and Otter Ale available from the three handpumps. Reasonable food, but the bar staff were either very stressed or just plain rude.

As you can see from the photo the hotel was having a refurb when we visited. It is part of the Old English Inns chain, which is owned by Greene King. Inside there is a dining area to the left, and a central bar to the right serving various seating areas. The overall effect is a pleasing change from a single room pub, with sea views from the front. Otter Bitter and Abbot Ale on hand pump.
