This is a rather grand detached hotel perched on a hill in Upper Bangor. The bar which is open to the public is a large modernised room with tiles around the bar and a mix of wooden floored and carpeted areas. There's a dart board set in a corner that looks as though it's used for music as well. There are some TV screens all turned off. Three pool tables and a Rolling Stones pinball machine take up a fair chunk of this large room. It was quiet on a Monday afternoon.
Although there are four hand pumps none were in use so I went for the Marston's Shipyard IPA (£3.50) which was OK.
With no real ale available and the fact that it is a Marston outlet means a return visit is highly unlikely.
