A pleasant locals pub down a side street, pretty well hidden from the main drag. A fire going in the hearth was good news as it was pretty chilly outside during our visit. Four cask ales available. We tried two of them and both were in good nick. Worth a visit.

Cobblers is split-level with a raised area up the left where seating is found in the front windows before the bar counter that runs up the left-hand wall. Banquettes sit in the right front window and then a raised seating section runs up the right-hand wall to a fireplace with burner and then the snug at the rear. I thought it a bit big and open for a snug, but there was a young couple in there familiarising themselves with one another, so let’s call it a snug. The governor is a fan of jugs because lots of them hang from the ceiling. Premium keg was available alongside five hand pumps, four of which were in operation drawing Bass, Abbot Ale, Directors and Salopian’s Oracle. There were ten or so locals in, which is OK for a Tuesday evening, however I found the music to be very energy draining and I didn’t find the layout to be the most comfortable.

Enjoyed our visit to this friendly locals pub which had a decent selection of ales plus Bass. We chose Wincle Rambler.which was very good.
