A great little village local. Friendly regulars and great atmosphere.

The Village Inn is a former coaching inn which sits on the main road through Carstairs. This was an important coaching route across Scotland. The inn inn is 5.7 mi (9.2 km) from New Lanark and within 12 mi (20 km) of Falls of the Clyde and Moat Park Heritage Centre. Fir Park Stadium and Colville Park Golf Club are also within 20 mi (32 km). The bar area sits in the main building on the left and is mostly used by the locals and those staying at the inn. The right half of the building is the inn’s restaurant. The area is very historical with Roman remains within a few miles. Britain's Largest Specialist Transport Union meets there the fourth Sunday in month. The bar sells Tennents & Caledonia Best. There is parking available at the inn and across the road about the village green.
