Although ostensibly a private club, this RBL-affiliated social hub is routinely open to locals, CAMRA members, RBL ex-Servicepersons, and they regularly run beer festivals and other events which have no entry restrictions other than those normally applied by true pubs.

The Club has recently been awarded CAMRA's Regional Club of the Year award and has a string of other awards for its beer. At the latest beer festival, which occupied half the building, there were 30 ales and six ciders on stillage and a further four ales behind the bar alongside the usual lager and other megakeg offerings. There are pool tables and dartboards, and freshly cooked food is sometimes available. Highly recommended for its ales, entertainment and hospitality, and well worth including in a crawl.
