Brewery Tap, Ludlow

Handily located adjacent to the train station, this is the brewery tap for the Ludlow Brewing Company and was very busy on our recent Friday afternoon visit, with a couple of brewery tours seeming to be in progress as well as all the other punters.

Décor wise it’s a little industrial as might be expected, but it does seem to have a little more home comforts than many brewery taps which can be very stark. The flooring is some sort of grey slate style tiles, whilst the vaulted roof is full of exposed timberwork. There are a couple of mezzanine levels, one above the bar which appeared to be only accessible to those doing the tour, and another opposite above a stage area. Walls are a mixture of exposed brickwork and painted plasterwork in various shades, whilst the seating was a mix of old sofas, long benches and a few stools. The brewery vessels were on full view at one end next to the bar which was an interesting feature. There was a good mix of punters in and the atmosphere seemed very convivial.

Beers on tap were all their own as would be expected, and consisted of Best, Blonde, Gold, Silent Knight, Red Dawn and Stairway. Ciders meanwhile were Oldfields and Stowford Press. All in all, well worth the short stroll away from the town centre to pay a visit.
