Similar to how I remember, a single room. Irritating bar blockers that blew the fuse of my normally placid companion when he politely asked them to move and got a bit of cheek in return, still it was worth it to see the look of worry cross the pink shirted fat bloke’s face. My Wye Valley Dorothy Goodbody was in great shape (NBSS 4). I still liked it here though they really should manage the bar area better. 8.5

An excellent example of how to do an ale bar in a modern building, even if the exterior is – as noted below – somewhat inconspicuous. Traditionally furnished L-shaped room, carpeted with wallpaper walls being overtaken by old pump clips/beer mats. Six ales and three ciders, a properly eclectic mix also including a proper mulled cider. My Three Tuns Stout was in good form and served up by friendly barman (friendly service seems the norm in Kddy’s better pubs). A pub with no lager, spirits or alcopops that is also child-unfriendly which will bring up an indignant howl from some quarters but for people like me is a blessing. Really enjoyed my stay here. Kiddy has a decent slab of pubs worth getting off the train for. Rated 9

The Weavers is a carpeted open plan single room shop converted bar with a polystyrene panelled ceiling akin to a newsagents or office. Seating is found in the front and a couple of sofas are located either side of a table in the right rear adjacent to the serving counter in the left rear. I counted 12 hand pumps on the bar, one of which was unused which left three ales from Fownd Brewing, Church End Brewery’s Irish Coffee and Fallen Angel, Nofo Brew Co’s Saddler’s Stout, Hobson’s Pale, and Bristol Beer Factory’s Cloud Break. Premium and craft keg were also available from eight fonts across the back bar, but I went for a pint of the Cloud Break that went down very nicely. There was a bit of background music playing from the 1970/80s and I noted that a quiz takes place every other Monday. My visit was on a recent midweek evening when it was actually busy with all but one table taken, but the atmosphere was sedate. I normally find in a micro that the locals are crammed around the bar chatting to the barman/owner, but that wasn’t the case in here, although the barman was polite enough.

A micro in shop conversion in a modern unit but on entering you get a strong boozer vibe .There is a dark carpet throughout, some traditional benches in blue velour and a sofa at the far end.The bar is small and tucked into a corner in a pleasing way and has a series of craft keg pumps offering beers and sparkling ciders.
When a lively barmaid came on duty the excellent soundtrack was more evident,as was the aircon which cleared the fugg and any old man oder.
The ale choice was Fownes Mermaids Tale (NBSS 4) and Gornals Gold,Castle Rock Harvest Pale,Wye Valley Bitter and HPA with Bewdley Jubilee. There were some handpumped ciders too.The banter was top drawer and the curry advice invaluable.
One not to miss in Kiddy,I would happily return despite the climb from the town centre.Near the station.
