A good locals' pub in the back streets near the football ground. The main area round the bar includes darts, pool etc while up a few steps there is a comfortable side room which is a bit quieter. There is a garden behind. A reasonable range of beers from West Country brewers seemed in good condition. Perhaps best avoided on match days but very pleasant at normal times.

I probably didn't see this one at its best, so I haven't given a rating, with it being 15 minutes to kick off when I arrived. All drinks were being served in plastic drinkware, which I presume is a police requirement when a pub is as close to the ground as this one. There are five hand pumps, serving a cider ands beers from Sharps, Wychwood, Bays and Dartmoor breweries. The beer was in good condition, or as good as I could judge when drinking from plastic. It's quite impressive to see such a choice of beers in a suburban pub, but I'm not sure it's one I would have bothered with if I hadn't been going to the match!

on first acquainting myself with my new local. i was afraid of the weirdy beardies, and long haired people. after further disappointment that they showed no football, i chose to abandon said premises.
On a friday night however, with the free juke box and all, the place became a thriving mess of who hates, and who loves music. The regulars in this pub could name you albums and band names from 1950 to now. and all have anecdotes of concerts and festivals.
The landlords look after their clients with uncle-like fondness. and there is a general feeling of bonhomie amongst all who enter this humble establishment.
