The Duke of Devonshire is a wedged shaped pub that is situated on the corner of carlton road and handel street.
It is know locally as the Mad House.
Once inside the pub had two rooms with a smartish bar at the front and a smarter lounge at the rear which also had an entrance off handel street.
The pub used to be an Home Ales tied house and there were two real ales on the bar with both Home bitter and mild being nice drinks here.
I have been in this pub lots of times and have always found it to be quite friendly.
On a more recent visit here there were no real ales on the bar,but this may have altered since then.
