The Rising Sun is a large family friendly dry led pub that is located adjacent to one of the smallest Premier Inns I’ve ever stayed in. There are sofas in the windows either side of the entrance before some high tables and a dartboard on the left wall. The large L-shaped bar counter faces the entrance to the front and open plan seating to the right. Raised seating is found to the front left where a long line of banquette seating runs under the front windows. To the very right is a small alcove with some seating. The décor is very neutral. I spotted a couple of televisions, one was off and the other was showing muted cartoons whilst some background music played. I didn’t see any live sport advertised, but there was a big advertisement by the bar for monthly ‘Dine & Dance’ afternoons hosted by tribute acts. Tina Turner and Barry Gibb have already visited, but Frankie Valli is still to perform in March.
The bar supports standard and premium keg and the four hand pumps were drawing Wadworth’s 6X and TT Landlord alongside GK IPA and Abbot Ale. Being next to the hotel this place acts as the dining area. The burgers are priced around £11. This place is a handy spot if looking for a bite to eat, but I wouldn’t go out of my way to revisit just for a beer.

Roadside pub sadly turned into a family eating establishment, with a much extended and slightly tedious plastic interior. However it does at least retain an interest in serving a decent beer with a Cask Marque listing; Speckled Hen and County available on pump at time of visit and condition fine.
