The Horse and Groom was situated on st peters square and looked down listergate.
Once inside there was a smallish bar at the front where we always had a drink and there was a larger lounge to the rear, the front room was decent enough with a few tables and chairs.
This pub was a Shipstones tied house and there were two real ales on the bar we usually had a drink of Shipstones bitter and this was a very nice drink the other beer was Shipstones mild.
The pub was very handy if you had been shopping in the broadmarsh centre and wanted a drink before going up to the victoria centre.
Sadly this pub closed down in the mid 90s and was turned into a halifax building society.
This was yet another of our regular drinking places to close down.
