A large square pub on the edge of an housing estate, I saw online it had a reputation and the bars on the windows weren’t reassuring. The evil eye from a nicotine bouncer didn’t help either. Inside its a U shape with central U shaped servery in grey plank-wood. There’s a range of keg solos, all the low end national favourites plus Lees’ own lager. I warmed to the place after a few minutes basically due to its warm community spirit. Fellow drinkers were a few middle aged and older blokes, all quite friendly and I didn’t feel like an intruder in their social club. Lots of grey decor but it also has banquette seating at Britannia and other Victorian tables, there’s a few high stools to one side. Screens, machines and piped music from a juke box. One end houses a pool table, the other a dart board, DJ booth and the gents. A varied decor with large photos of Marilyn Monroe and Audrey Hepburn among others.
