A cosy traditional pub complete with carpets and wallpaper typical of a Black Country Ales pub as is the twelve handpumps, I didn't list the beers but there was a mix of their own plus about five guests, I had a pleasant Downton Port Stout.I did visit here in 2013 but I've no real recollection of it.
This visit was Jan 2025. Nice Pub.

Your standard Black Country Ales pub: cask, cobs and carpet. Beers are listed on a screen and your device will connect to the wi-fi before you've taken your seat in one of the comfortable leather banquettes.

12 pumps on the bar will likely have equally familiar badges: ales from BCA, Sharp's, Titanic, Froth Blowers and others, along with 2 or 3 ciders.

It's a formula, but it works well. I'd have preferred the rock music at a lower volume but that was all I could fault on this visit.

Just a quick pint, then I'm off left this review about The Salmon

Last visited in 2013, before it was taken on by Black Country Ales, and this plainly attractive corner pub has certainly has been remodelled inside since then (although I only have a limited recollection of what it used to look like). Anyway, taking it on its own merits now, it has this chain's expected traditional look, features and cobs, along with four of the brewery's old beers, five guest ales plus a couple of ciders from 11 of the 12 handpumps. I tried the Downton Port Stout (£2.15, half) and Lenton Lane's (single-malt Maris Otter and) single-hopped Moutere (£2.10, half); a good start to a tour round the city centre's more notable hostelries.
