Please note - I have uploaded a photo of the Stagger Inn sign, which is opposite the Drovers Inn. Please publish this photo of a pub which used to be in that area. It’s currently within the Beinnglas Campsite.

It's certainly a character pub but the owners appear to use that as an excuse to avoid basic maintenance (take a cursory look at the crumbling exterior). Left room is a bar, with eating rooms to the right and rear. Decorated in a hunting lodge style - loads of taxidermy, black ceilings, a wood burning stove in the old hearth, exposed stone walls, upright piano, old framed paintings, candles and a little snug. Deuchars IPA as the single ale, tinny and horrible. Three Drygate beers in the fridge, expensive though. Ate here and my poached salmon was pretty good value for 12 quid, though judging by others plates I think I managed to find the value in the menu. Aimed squarely at one-drop tourists, it’s heavy on Scottish music and all staff wear kilts (sigh).
I also had the misfortune to overnight here and I can say quite categorically that it’s the worst ‘inn’ I’ve ever set foot in. They even had a female Manuel failing to serve breakfast unless you wrestled it out of the kitchen.
Pub-wise, it’s worth a nose for the interior and a wee dram but that’s about it. It is nowhere near as amazing as some others would have you believe. 5.5

This has got to be one of Scotland’s most unusual pubs, which is well worth going out of your way to visit if you’re anywhere in the area. Passing by on the Loch Lomond Road, it looks like an ancient, crumbling building with stonework badly in need of repair, but don’t be put off. When you step through the front door, you’ll be greeted by a stuffed grizzly bear in the entrance hallway, while a menagerie of other stuffed creatures, including an apparently genuine two headed lamb, lurk inside. The interior stone walls are decorated with guns and swords and the two open fires contribute to a cosy atmosphere. The bar staff wear kilts and serve a good range of beers, including real ales, whiskies and food. Regular live music at nights is supplied by Scottish and Irish folk musicians. Reasonably priced accommodation is available upstairs, but be aware that some of the rooms are allegedly haunted. Overspill accommodation is provided in the building across the road, which also contains a “Sports Bar,” which is part of the Inn but has a rather different atmosphere. The whole place has a wonderfully old fashioned feel to it and, although it can appear rather cobwebbed and dusty in places, is a refreshing alternative to the over modernised and sanitised pubs which have become so common. Bizarre, outlandish and not to be missed.
