A nice antidote to the terrible Woolpack. Out in the sticks a bit and is converted from an old industrial building. Traditional atmosphere within with a 1930s sort of theme; log burner, display cases with die-casts, pew seating. Is apparently lit by gas lamps which I have to admit I failed to notice. It’s a brewpub (Firehouse brewery), though to be honest I wasn’t keen on the output, both of my choices were a bit of a cross between homebrew and long-in-the-tooth (NBSS 3, 2.5 of the two I tried from five). Friendly barman, which always helps. Try it for yourself; it’s certainly worth the visit to see the inside and tick the brewery. GBG listed, inevitably.

Graham Coombs left this review about The Gas Lamp
Tucked away in a former industrial area which is slowly being 'improved', this is the brewery tap for the adjoining Firehouse brewery, housed in a splendid Victorian industrial building once part of the gasworks. It is a rather nice bar with gas lighting to add to the atmosphere. A bare wooden floor, old pews and dark wood furniture complete the set up, with some benches outside. A long row of draught beers are almost all from Firehouse and those sampled were good. Well worth the walk out from town.

The Gas Lamp Lounge opened on the 8th of December 2010 and is the brewery tap of Fulstow Brewery which is in the same building. The pub is lit by gas lamps, and has no music or tv.It is a proper pub for beer and conversation. There are six hand pulls with Fulstow brewery beers on and usually a guest from another micro brewery.
