The Marcus Ward has seating on the path out the front looking onto the square and to the right is a small kitchen for pizza and burgers that also acts as a take-away. Inside the bar there is seating along the front before steps that lead down to a central serving counter that supports standard and premium keg. The TV was off during football so no Sky Sports, but some background music was playing. On the rear wall is a raised seating area. The barman was friendly enough, but it was empty in here during my mid-evening midweek visit. I wouldn’t have been surprised if they closed up early after I left.
