The centre of Westbury is rather short on pubs these days, but at The Market Tavern I found one of the friendliest barmaids ever, overseeing what is almost a social club of elderly and, in one instance, "aromatic" regulars. The Bass is, somehow, just £3.50, and my World Cup themed ale from Twisted Brewery (a new one on me) can't have been much different (having added a packet of Pipers onto the bill). Guinness appears popular, though I would have selected Paulaner from the keg delights.
No food, no airs, no graces, just a solid little pub. Way better than expected, and much more open than The Crown next door. Definitely worth a pint of your time should you venture into deepest Wiltshire.
