Formerly the Crown and Anchor, this pub is now trying to be a night club but achieves nothing more than being a "bar" with late night opening and excessive music. An historic Edwardian building on a corner plot in the town centre, its interior decor is now characterised by MDF sheets painted in matt black, fairy lights and cynical-looking bar staff who wondered why I was there (as, indeed, did I). No real ale - in fact no beer worth speaking of at all - alcopops are the order of the day here. Until it is reborn as a pub, there is no point coming here.
