The Westford Inn is now under different ownership from when I was passing five years ago, with longer hours designed to catch the lunchtime and afternoon trade. The bar is accessed through the front door, past other smaller rooms that have been set up for dining. The bar counter faces into the lean to or extension that I mentioned in my previous review, though the external door to this part of the building appears to be no longer in use. There are two hand pumps on the bar counter, serving Isle of Skye Red and Gold. My pint of Red was in good condition, and went down well after my cycle ride from the ferry at Berneray. The owners were friendly and welcoming but there was only one other customer at the time of my 3pm visit. This is certainly the best option for real ale on North Uist, and more likely to be found open than it was five years ago!

There is no signage on this building, apart from a very discreet "lounge bar" on the door of the lean to extension, though as the tallest building in this part of the island it is visible from miles away. Although the pub had adverts on the ferry across from Oban when I was here in May 2014, there are no signs along the road directing the hungry or thirsty visitor. Maybe worth phoning ahead if thinking of visiting.
