Real Ale Ray left this review about The Star

The interior had one long lounge area with green painted walls, tartan carpet, red brick fireplace half way along the left hand wall with the bar area over on the right. Three chrome and black handpumps, all unclipped, I told the barman that l was looking for some cask ale. The reply was 'we don't have any' and that was it, no recommendation or support for any of his local pubs close by.

Just Theakston Summit and Timothy Taylor Golden Best on. The lass behind the bar broke off from complaining about the management long enough to give me a smile and a half of the Best, which did not live up to its name (NBSS 1.5 - slightly off smell and unimpressive taste). Loud music and a darts board with the throwing area just inside the front door tend to suggest that this is not the best pub on the Brampton Mile.

Will Larter left this review about The Star Inn

This is the most westerly pub on the Brampton Mile, hence either the last or the first, or possibly the turning point, depending on the sequence in which you tackle them. It has faux half-timbering both inside and out, with the bar running down the right hand side of the two rooms knocked into one.

Two of the six available hand pumps were on, serving Courage Best and Deuchars IPA. The gents toilet is through the unmarked door next to the ladies, at the back of the pub, which also gives access to the small decked area to the rear. Not a destination pub in itself, this is a pleasant enough stop on the Brampton Mile. Opens at 3pm during the week.
