The Beehive is a Craft Union pub that was very lively with an early evening crowd during a recent Saturday visit. As I initially walked past, on my way to the Kings Head, I witnessed a couple of old slappers getting barred by, who I assumed to be, the governor and the bouncer. So there was some apprehension as I walked back down to the Beehive, but the bouncer welcomed me in and I found a lively, but good natured atmosphere. The pub is long and thin with seating to the left and a bar along the mid rear wall facing seating across the front windows. To the right is some raised seating that is somewhat separated from the main bar by a couple of supporting columns. The football had finished so muted Pointless was on all the televisions whilst some loud music played, maybe off a jukebox. I can see the attraction, but there is no longer any cask here.

Called in this 2017 Good Beer Guide pub while on a oach tour of Greater Manchester pubs. This is an Enterprise Inn with a bar and a lounge. There are a couple of ales on and we chose the Tweed TPA. They also get cider from a local producer.

This is a lovely little pub, almost from a bygone era. The main room is full of plants, pictures and horse brasses. There’s loads of comfortable seating near the bar and also in the slightly raised lounge area. There’s also a tap room with a dart board. Sadly it’s now keg only, a few years ago they at least sold cask Boddingtons. It’s a nice place but the lack of cask ale means that we usually have one and move on.
