This is one of those pubs that look better on the inside than expected from the outside view. It is very large but split up into many different areas. The walls are decorated with mirrors and many local historic photographs. It was very quiet early evening on a Wednesday, but with its central location, I imagine the atmosphere will be quite different on a weekend night.

An old pub done up in the Spanish-type rough plaster and black wood style popular a couple of decades ago. It rambles round a central bar, with a lounge part on one side and pool and darts round the other, with plenty of odd corners. To my surprise it boasted a couple of handpumps serving Hancocks and Directors, although the former was off and the latter just about acceptable. it didn't do a great deal for me but at least it survives, compared to the numerous ex-pubs nearby.
