The outline of the pub has changed recently, with a model labelled "the original hairy biker" seemingly emerging from the chimney, Santa Claus style, carrying a Confederate flag. The pub's twitter feed mentions a bikers night, which may go some way to explaining this phenomenon. Once inside, this is an extensive, multi-roomed pub, mostly open plan but with a cosy public bar, the "Captain's Cabin", to the left on entering. On a glaring hot day this was a haven of peace and cool, so I enjoyed my brief visit. The small section of the bar in this tiny room has only a couple of fonts, the hand pumps being on the main section around the corner. There was only Dizzy Blonde available, though the vacant pumps suggest that other times would see a larger choice, and there were a couple of real ciders available too. The beer was in good condition, but as I am not a huge fan of Robinsons this would not be somewhere I would be in a hurry to get back to.
(Apologies for getting the closing day wrong in my earlier post. Full opening hours are on the website, but in summary they are closed Mondays except BH, closed in the afternoons from 2 until 6.30 except Sundays when they are open all day from noon.)

The Anchor is a very nice looking white painted pub that is situated just outside the village of Tideswell on the main A623.
Once inside this pub was just as good there were three rooms we had a drink in a very nice wood pannelled room which i found very comfortable there was also a bar and a seperate dining room to the rear.
This pub is a Robinsons tied house and there were two real ales on the bar i had a drink of Robinsons bitter and this was a very nice drink the other beer was a Robinsons seasonal beer which i car'nt remember the name of.
I thought this was a really nice cosy pub that would be nice to visit in the middle of winter.
